There are many people who dread the concept of shopping due to the problems associated with offline shopping. Offline shopping entails a number of disadvantages which makes it highly cumbersome in nature. Standing in the cues and looking for favorable parking slots are some of the worst facets of offline shopping. The idea of hopping from one store to another becomes highly irritating and often the offline stores do not have enough items in stock which makes options too limited. Online shopping is devoid of such limitations and is most preferred for the amount of convenience that it offers to the customers. Here you will get to sit down in the comfort of your home and do as much research as you want on the items that you need to purchase. Moreover even the job of searching can be carried out without much hassle for all you need to do is to click the mouse and visit as many online stores as you want.

Apart from the factor of convenience the amount of benefits that you can reap for online shopping far outweigh the list of benefits that offline shopping offers.

The fact that more and more people are opting for online shopping is suggestive of the fact that this type of shopping is highly advantageous. It would enable you to save a lot more than the amount you would have saved through offline shopping. This is because online shopping comes with the great benefit of discount shopping which makes it highly beneficial. If you purchase items at discounted rates through online shopping, why should you go for offline shopping? There are a number of schemes and offers available on online shopping which you cannot avail in offline shopping.

There are different types of deals available on items sold online, of which an important type is that of coupon codes.

These coupon code deals are meant to help people to save money on any kind of purchase they make. Hence, you can use these coupon codes for all kinds of purchase that you make. These coupons are available online, do some amount of research before settling for any particular type of coupon. Online discount shopping also involves the facility of carrying out a comparison of the prices of a particular type of item. One can easily carry out this comparative study which is quite difficult in case of offline shopping.

Often the retailers offer items at discounted rates when they are sold in bulk or under any kind of offer. These kinds of offers are available only in case of offline shopping. These are the different types of discount shopping that one can avail in online shopping and one should go for that type of discount offer which suits him the most. Every discount offer has a nature of its and are meant to cater to the needs of a particular group of people, so you should weigh different options and go for an option that matches you need the most.

Online discount shopping offers a number of advantages but you need to take all measures for security. You need to stay safe when you are looking for discount shopping online in order to avoid falling in traps and fraudulent practices. For the purpose of security you should never send an email containing information of your personal details while discount shopping online. Moreover in case of online discount shopping you should always look for the top quality product available for since you would get the item at discounted rates you can afford to look for the best quality products manufactured by the best of manufacturers.

Alopecia in cats is a condition that most all cat lovers fear and dread. It can also be an extremely painful ordeal for your best friend, and several experts will tell you that there is no sure cure for this condition that is causing your cats hair to fall out.

When your cat has chronic forms off skin problems where their hair is virtually falling out, has bald patches, rashes, extremely dull coats or even dandruff, in most all cases this is caused by the diet and something they are lacking.

And despite what most experts tell you, there is some help for these conditions.

Alopecia in your feline can cause a partial or a complete hair loss, it can appear as a pattern, it can be varied with no pattern, it can be symmetrical, or it may be totally random; but it will most always be a guessing game as to the actual cause of the condition.

In older cats with serious diseases like cancer, alopecia is very common, but in all other cases that can affect kittens and cats of all ages and breeds and there are numerous causes and possibilities for this condition.

There is also a form of this condition referred to as psychogenic alopecia that is self caused by excessive grooming by your cat.

Alopecia by definition simply means that your pets hair is falling out, so let’s examine some of the most common reasons why this could be happening to you cat.

Allergic reactions or dermatitis:

This is caused by something irritating your cat’s skin. In this situation your cat may have an allergic reaction to an antibiotic, some type of metal exposure, plastic exposure, or chemicals such as carpet cleaners or even deodorizers. With this condition your cat will develop reddish skin and or blisters, and they will naturally scratch themselves.

If chronic, it will result in hair loss.

Alopecia areata:

This is a condition that is believed to be an immune disorder in cats, and with this disorder, your cat will loss patches of hair generally on the head, neck and body, but they will experience no itching symptoms at all which makes it very troubling to diagnosis.

Atopy, a form of dermatitis:

This is an allergic reaction to something you pet has inhaled and it could be pollen in peak pollination periods, or it could be dust mites or even mold. With this condition, your pet will generally start to lick their feet, their ears may become inflamed, and hair loss will be mild to moderate. They may also develop hot spots that could be severe and because it is a form of dermatitis, could become infected.

Cheyletiella mange:

This is caused by infestation by an ear mite and will cause your cat to itch almost immediately and this will lead to development of scales and if severe enough, a severe hair loss.

Facial alopecia:

This is a condition where hair loss occurs both around and above the eyes, and is quite normal and will start developing in cats between the ages of one and two years. It is a condition where the density of hair is just thinning and happens most frequently to short haired cats with darker hair. It is not serious unless redness or scaling sets in, which could than cause the thinning to spread, resulting in hair loss.

Flea dermatitis:

This is a condition where your cat is having a reaction from the infected salvia from fleas. It will cause an intense itching on the part of your cat which in turn will lead first to red sores, than papules or scales, and than a moderate to heavy hair loss. In hot spots that become very inflamed, infection may set in as will hair loss.

Food allergies:

This form of alopecia is just that, an allergic reaction to something in your pet’s diet and is generally something new, but not always. This form will also start with your cat licking their feet and than the itching starts, and if moderate to severe, hair loss occurs.

Alopecia during pregnancy:

This is simply a reaction to stress, and can also occur with a serious illness or in some cats, just a stressful situation. With this form of alopecia your cat’s hair loss will be very sudden and in most cases, widespread.

Hyperthyroidism:

This alopecia condition affects over 40% of all cats as hair follicles are weakened and as a result simple scratching will cause hair loss. Over grooming by your pet will cause hot spots that may have a complete loss of hair.

Psychogenic alopecia:

A condition where your cat just simply over grooms itself and is caused by boredom, anxiety, or stress and is especially dangerous as it can lead to ulcers developing where there has been excessive hair loss, especially in the groin areas and along your pets back.

Ringworm alopecia:

This is a condition caused by some type of a fungi infection and will cause only minor itching in your pet, but because of the infection, the hair loss can be severe. Also associated with this condition may be several crusty and scaling areas on your pet’s skin where hair loss has occurred.

There are several other conditions or diseases that may cause alopecia in cats, such as sweat gland cysts, Cushing disease, and lice infections just to name a few.

Treatment for alopecia will range from various medications and tropical medications, but the options are very limited and most will not work effectively. However, what does work in most all cases is dietary changes and adjustments, as well as supplements.

Most all forms of alopecia are caused by your pet’s diet, or what is lacking in it. Try changing their diet to a preservative free diet and supplement your pet with Vitamins A, C, E, as well as the mineral zinc. Most all skin diseases are caused by deficiencies of these vitamins and zinc.

Most all types of mange conditions respond to and are corrected very quickly by Vitamin C supplements, and most all rashes, eczema, and hair loss recovers very quickly with Vitamin E supplements. Abscesses and sores respond rapidly to zinc, and Vitamin A helps any type of bacterial infection, skin eruption, or cysts.

Hair loss in your cat at some point will occur, but as with any condition, improving their immune system by supplementing can save your feline friend a lot of unnecessary pain.

If you are just starting a company and looking for funding, or looking for additional funding for growth, you will need to develop a traditional business plan. Creating a business plan is a business hurdle that entrepreneurs seem to dread. Do you do it yourself? Do you hire someone to do it? How do you get it done quickly, but without spending too much money on it? Will what you do yourself be adequate to get funding?

In this article I will discuss the pros and cons of do-it-yourself business planning versus having a business planning consultant do it for you or with you.

The Do It Yourself Business Plan

Particularly if you are seeking capital of less than $200,000, consider creating the plan yourself after taking a class or reading some books or getting some coaching for someone who has written successful business plans.

Consider taking a three-hour business planning class through SCORE or the local Small Business Development Center. Even if you decide afterwards not to write your own plan, you will have a much better idea of what you want out of the process and what to expect.

There are some good reasons for an entrepreneur to do the business plan:

First of all, because you can. If you’ve read sample business plans and find their accounting jargon intimidating, you are not alone. But as long as you can clearly get your message across and have other people such as you accountant look at the plan before it goes to lenders or others, you can do this work yourself. It is in learning the business planning process that you develop analytical thinking skills necessary to run your business with an intimate understanding of your own business model. Going through the planning process is an invaluable business experience. You need to know the plan inside and out and really understand the variables involved. You are the one who will be asked the tough questions by potential investors or lenders, such as “What will you do if only half your expected revenue comes in?” or “What will you do if you find out that direct mail is not working for you as your primary marketing tool?”

Outsourcing the Business Plan Process

Entrepreneurs are fire fighters. One of the most important jobs of an entrepreneur is to manage time, and do those things that you are best skilled to do. Many entrepreneurs decide to hire someone else to do their business plans, often because they have an urgent need for the funding and can’t afford the learning curve to be able to develop a high-quality plan that will meet the needs of lenders or investors.

In addition, if your funding requirements are more than $500,000 my recommendation is to get some professional help with this project, even if you do some of it yourself.

Some reasons to consider hiring a consultant:

It will get done! Business planning is done much faster with someone who knows the process. Every entrepreneur has good intentions about getting plans completed, but months later they still haven’t done all the work. Planning should be high priority work, but it is hard to get to when customer calls and employee problems require immediate attention. The sooner the plan is completed, the sooner funding can be attained. And the price of hiring the consultant will be small in comparison with the increases in growth and profitability of the business. It will get done in a way financial professionals will respect. Business planning is done better by someone who knows how finance people look at plans and what they will and won’t question. Once you’ve been through the business plan process many times, you know what it takes to get funding – what to emphasize and what to play down. The consultant’s objectivity will allow for non-emotionally-based projections and expectations for the business. A consultant will be much more objective in the process and question your assumptions, making it less likely that the business will have problems after the funding comes in.

No matter what, don’t let a business planning consultant talk you into putting any information into your plan that you aren’t comfortable with. If it doesn’t look right to you, it probably isn’t. It is your business, and you will be stuck with the plan long after you’ve paid the consultant’s bill. Make sure it is the plan that you want, one that matches your goals and objectives, and captures the way you look at business and the spirit of your company.

If you do decide to hire a business planning consultant, here are some of the important questions to ask to make sure you get the greatest value from your investment:

How many business plans have you written for my type of business? How many of them were funded? How much time will you need of mine during the planning process? When will the plan be completed, and how many drafts should I expect to see and have the opportunity to comment on? Will you be writing the plan yourself or do you have associates who do the work with you? Will there be an opportunity for you to present the plan or for me to present the plan to my other advisors before the final draft is done? How do you work in collaboration with my partners and advisors so their input is taken into consideration during the writing of the plan? Do you do the market research and the financial spreadsheets, or are those things done separately (and charged for separately)? Does your price include revisions or customization for certain types of funding (to include different information needed by investors versus lenders)? Does your price include coaching to prepare me to talk with lenders or make financing presentations? Will I have an electronic version as well as a hard copy version of the final plan (so I can make changes later if I need to)?

The Optimum Solution: A Blended Approach

At best, the planning process should not be at either end of the spectrum, but squarely in the middle. In my experience, plans that win funding come from a true collaboration between a skilled consultant/facilitator and the entrepreneur’s team of employees and advisors.

A business planning consultant can act as a coach, first assessing the job to be done, and then recommending who is best to do it. The business plan should be a compilation of work between the vision and goals of the entrepreneur, the technical understanding and expertise of his or her accountant and other professionals, a consensus of employees or others, and the research and writing abilities of the business planning consultant. The consultant should meet with all parties involved, talk about what is needed for the plan, and use all the resources available to get the work done as quickly and cost effectively as possible. It is the consultant’s responsibility in the process to take all the pieces and make the final plan into a readable, accessible document that will stand up to investor/lender scrutiny.

My final caveats:

Don’t pay more than a few thousand dollars for a plan unless you are looking for capital of well over $1 million. I have heard more than a few horror stories by people who have hired university professors assuming they are the experts (they aren’t) and paying tens of thousand of dollars for a poorly written or incomplete plan. Ask your banker for business planning consultant recommendations, or better yet, talk with someone who had a good experience having a business plan written for them. It is reasonable for a consultant to expect you to pay half of the fee up front and the other half at the completion of the plan. And you can’t hold the consultant responsible if you don’t get funding based on the plan – too much is based on your own credit and management skills. Don’t expect to get a finished plan that is a roadmap of everything you need to do to have a successful business. That isn’t the purpose of the business planning process. A traditional business plan is intended only to document your strategies for the business very briefly – but well enough to get funding. If you are hoping for something that will tell you how to market or how many people you need to hire, you will have to start with a deep strategic planning process, and probably buy lots of consulting time to get you going. Don’t expect a great a business plan from a poor business model. If your costs are too high to make your business profitable, the business planning process will help you discover that. Then it will be up to you to make the hard decisions about changing your costs structure to make the business work. The business planning consultant is a skilled professional, not a miracle worker. A good business plan can help you highlight your strengths and minimize your weaknesses, but it cannot make an unworkable business model into a thriving business.

And one final thought: Don’t go on to start a business or make changes in your current business if everything in the business planning process tells you it won’t work. Things don’t get better out in the real world if they don’t work on paper. Deal with the weaknesses – get more training, consider product redevelopment, or have a home-based business to reduce costs until you can sustain the rent for an office. Businesses fail finally because they’ve run out of money. If your plan tells you that you can’t make enough money to make the business work for the long run, pay attention to that reality.
